Hazel Soan is a versatile professional artist, who has written many instructional books and was one of the judges for the TV series Watercolour Challenge. Hazel will be working and teaching in watercolour each day. Indoor workshop sessions will include still-life and portrait painting. En plein air painting on the 2000-acre Estate will be weather dependent but offers a wide variety of landscapes, architecture, water features and much more. This tutored watercolour painting workshop is open to 10 students of all abilities.

We were surrounded by stunning rose beds and delphiniums, and espaliers laden with apples and pears – ideal subjects for mastering the main watercolour techniques; and the exclusive use of the Pavilion as our own private studio in the Queen Elizabeth Walled Garden was just perfect.' Dumfries House

His Majesty King Charles III rescued Dumfries House in 2007 and has restored it to its former beauty. He started working on the gardens and grounds in 2018 which are now maturing splendidly. Dumfries House is now one of the King's favourite residences. 

Dumfries House Lodge

Located in the grounds of this royal estate is its country guest house, with 22 ensuite bedrooms. In the main lodge building is the dining room and two homely sitting rooms. All meals are included and made using produce from the estate's vegetable garden and local suppliers. You'll be looked after from your arrival until your departure by an event organiser, who'll also be taking care of all the arrangements. Dumfries House is easily reached by car or public transport from Glasgow.
