Biography

I started to paint in 2018 . I started with acrylics and now use only oils and mainly canvas on board. Most of my portraits are 38 cms x 60 cms or thereabouts. Am still on a big learning curve but really enjoying the process and discovering new techniques very step of the way! I go to art class once a week which is great. I find painting portraits really good to do but go through stages where I think 'oh no, I haven't captured the likeness and then it's tortuous but generally have always managed to persevere (painful) but get there in the end. I really like painting eyes and hair but have always found lips the hardest - in my view they make or break the likeness. I've recently discovered I like painting teeth too which is a bit odd I know! I've also painted several still life paintings and enjoy doing this too. Would love to paint in a looser style but find myself always drawn back to more detail so I suppose that's my 'style'!
