Biography

I’m an enthusiastic amateur artist, drawing and painting in my spare time. During the 90s I worked for publishing and printing companies creating print ready artwork using a variety of Macs and early iterations of software. At the time I attended day release to study graphic design but struggled without the artistic skills. A change in career followed it was only in the last couple of years that I’ve decided to rekindle art as a hobby. Starting with a subscription to leisure painter and artist, I initially focused on water colours. In the past few months, inspired by a Raw Umber Studios subscription I have focused on portraits using pencil and charcoal. I’ve also dabbled in acrylics and now getting started with water mixable oil paints. During this summer I’ve tried my hand at Plein Air which has been fun. I’m quite confident in creating digital art because the technology makes it so much easier in comparison to the early years but don’t get the same enjoyment or satisfaction. I post on painters online to keep a record of progress.
